Set up your profile and get started with Coffeescribe

Creating Your Account

Coffeescribe is currently in private early access — an invite code is required to sign up. You can get one by joining the waitlist at the homepage or receiving one from an existing user.

To create your account:

  1. Go to /signup.
  2. Enter your email address and choose a password.
  3. Paste your invite code (CS-XXXX-XXXX format) into the Invite code field.
  4. Click Create account.
  5. Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to your inbox to confirm your email.
  6. Once confirmed, your invite code is redeemed automatically — tokens are added to your balance and you are signed in.

Don't have an invite code yet? Enter your email on the homepage to join the waitlist. Codes go out in batches as capacity opens.

Login vs signup: Google and GitHub sign-in are available on the /login page for accounts that already exist. During private early access they are not available for creating a new account — new accounts require email and an invite code.

Using an email alias? Aliases from DuckDuckGo, Apple Hide My Email, Fastmail Masked Emails, and similar privacy-forwarding services work fine — both signup verification and password reset use 6-digit codes that you type into the app, not clickable links, so URL-rewriting forwarders can't break the flow.

Setting Up Your Profile

After signing up, visit your Settings page to customize your account:

  • Display name — This appears as the author name on your scribes and in the library
  • Avatar — Your profile picture, visible on your public scribes
  • Email — Your account email (used for login and notifications)

Preferences

The Preferences section of Settings holds account-wide UI preferences:

  • Email notifications — Toggle marketing and system emails on or off.
  • Show advanced controls — When ON, the Advanced settings accordion on the create slideshow Review card opens by default (so the model picker, web search toggle, generation mode, and custom instructions are visible without an extra click). When OFF (default), the accordion stays collapsed until you expand it. Pro and Creator only — Free users don't have an Advanced section to affect. Preferences are saved to your account and persist across browsers and devices.

Your Library

The Library is your home base. From here you can:

  • View all your created scribes
  • See your current tier and token balance (all tiers)
  • Track your usage (scribes created, exports used)
  • Access your notebooks (highlights and notes)
  • Start creating a new scribe

Free Tier

  • Welcome credit on signup — a one-off allowance to explore the full app
  • Full app access — all creation modes, Workspace, Research Cafes, web search, exports
  • 3 lifetime PDF exports (other formats unlimited)
  • All scribes are public
  • Locked to the CoffeeScribe Model — our curated default, maintained for the best balance of quality and cost
  • No audiobook generation

Pro Tier ($7.99/month, or $79.99/year ~16.6% off)

  • Unlimited scribes (credit-based)
  • Generous monthly allowance, with carry-over up to one extra month
  • Unlimited PDF exports
  • All export formats
  • Private scribes
  • Locked to the CoffeeScribe Model — same curated default as Free; predictable output, predictable cost
  • One-time goodwill grant per cycle if you run out of tokens before renewal
  • Audiobook generation
  • Verify Validity (AI fact-checking + plagiarism)

Creator Tier ($14.99/month, or $149.99/year ~16.6% off)

  • Unlimited scribes (credit-based)
  • Larger monthly allowance, with carry-over up to one extra month
  • Token top-ups — buy more any time, never expire
  • Unlimited PDF exports
  • All export formats including StoryBook
  • Model picker — CoffeeScribe Model recommended, plus access to 350+ alternatives (advanced disclosure carries an at-your-own-risk warning)
